As Johnston told Grazia , Love Actually director Richard Curtis pushed for a sexy dress because he wanted Knightley's character "to be dressed ready for the end of the scene where theyre partying, so he had this idea of a crop top, with a bare tummy." Instead, Johnston felt that it wouldn't be right for the character to be rocking a crop top in a church, so she came up with the stunning dress Knightley ultimately wore in the movie
